摘要

Abstract

Haizhu District of Guangzhou City is located at the weak tidal estuary of Pearl River Delta where bidirec⁃tional flow in the river network frequently leads to backflow, deposition, poor flow and water pollution. A project of connecting the river network was proposed. The components include dredging and connecting the dead-end chan⁃nels to recover their diversion and drainage functions, change bidirectional flow into one-way flow; recovering or newly excavating 2 channels and connecting 10 channels. The total length amounts to 8210m. After this project was completed, the water environment in Haizhu District has been greatly improved.
