Design of a Novel Ultra-Wideband Tightly Coupled Antenna Array

Abstract
The impedance bandwidth of tightly coupled array (TCA) is greatly effected by the ground plane when it is in-stalled on the platform of airplanes, missiles and naval ships. In view of this question, a novel ultra-wideband TCA with multilayer structure was designed by grid resistance frequency selective surface and interdigital dipole antenna. The perfor-mance of TCA with and without grid RFSS was compared by CST, the simulated result showed that the effect of ground plane was greatly restricted by loading a grid RFSS, the impedance bandwidth (VSWR<2) of TCA with grid RFSS was 10.4∶1 (1.8~18.8 GHz), while without grid RFSS the best bandwidth was 4.5∶1 (2.1~9.5 GHz).关键词
