Effects of Different Molecular Weight Chitosans on Growth,Slaughter Performance,Meat Quality and Nutrient Metabolism of Frizzled Chickens

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to study the effects of different molecular weight chitosans on growth,slaughter performance,meat quality and nutrient metabolism of frizzled chickens. A total of 192 49-day-old female fizzled chickens were randomly divided into four groups ( control group, low molecular weight group,medium molecular weight group and high molecular weight group) . The experiment lasted for 42 d. The control group was fed with corn-soybean meal basal diet, and the others with basal diet plus 0. 75% chitosan with molecular weight of 2 000 u,5 000 u and 50 000 u,respectively. There were no difference in average daily gain,average daily feed intake and the feed conversion ratio among the groups. Compared with the control group, dietary supplementation of different molecular weight chitosans could significantly reduce the abdominal fat,the liver fat and the muscle fat width,and the low,medium and high molecular weight groups reduced 31 . 23% ( P<0 . 05 ) ,34 . 76% ( P<0 . 01 ) ,26 . 70% ( P<0 . 05 ) on the abdominal fat,12. 36% (P<0. 01),8. 83%(P<0. 05),5. 76% (P>0. 05) on the liver fat,and 38. 36% (P<0. 01),28. 77% (P<0. 05),36. 99% (P<0. 01) on the muscle fat width,respectively. The high molecular weight group reduced 17 . 21% on the drumstick rate of frizzled chickens ( P <0 . 01 ) . Dietary supplementation of chitosan was no significant differently in meat quality of breast and drumsticks. But it had a trend to lower the drip of the breast meat. There were no significantly difference in the metabolic rate of dry matter, crude protein, calcium and phosphorus. Compared with the control group,the low,medium and high molecular weight groups reduced 3. 22% (P >0. 05),5. 96% (P <0. 05),8. 03% (P<0. 01)on metabolic rate of crude fat,respectively. It was concluded that supplementation of 0. 75% different molecular weight chitosans in dietary had no effect in the performance and meat quality of frizzled chickens,but it could effectively inhibit the fat absorption and utilization,reduce the fat deposition,and the chitosan with the molecular weight below 5 000 u had the most obvious lipid-lowering effect.关键词
