Abstract

Objective: To explore the dynamic changes in MPA2 GFAP mRNA and protein expression and the effect of PTS on it after focal ischemia reperfusion around the infarct area. Methods: The model of acute reperfusion injury after cere-bral ischemia in rat was made by middle cerebral artery occlusion. All animals were allowed 45 min ischemia and sacrificed after different durations of reperfusion (1, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days). The expression of MPA2 GFAP mRNA and protein around the infarct area in the rat brain, and the effect of PTS on it were observed by PCR and western Results: The mRNA and protein expression of MPA2 in the whole durations, the PTS groups was higher than that of normal sham and N.S groups (P>0.05). In contrast, the mRNA and protein expression of GFAP increased remarkably as compared with the normal sham and N.S groups in 1, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after reperfusion (P<0.05). Conclusion: PTS can increase the expression of GFAP. PTS could enhance the level of NSC proliferation after middle cerebral artery occlusion reperfusion.
