Reinterpretation on Chu Hsi's Conception of the Great Ultimate
摘要
Abstract
Wing-tsit Chan had ever debated with a Japanese scholar that the conception of the Great Ul-timate was not unimportant for Chu Hsi's theory.This paper supports and develops Chan's view.The au-thor firstly analyses the doctrine of substance-function in Chu Hsi's Explanation on the Diagram of the Great Ultimate,hold-s that Chu Hsi not only inherits but also develops the theory of Cheng Brothers as he emphasizes the order between substance and function.Secondly,the author investigates the correlations a-mong Chu Hsi's doctrine of the Great Ultimate and Shao Yong and Zhang Zai,which shows the complexity of the origin of Chu Hsi's theory.关键词
