Abstract

Through the self-designed underground gasification model test system , the underground gasification test of Hebi coal was carried out by applying two-stage coal gasification ( oxygen-enriched air & steam gasification ) .By analyzing the gasifying procedure simultaneously , gas composition , the variation of corresponding calorific values and their stability characteristics in different test stages were obtained .The results conclude that the average calorific values of water gas are proved to be 11.85 MJ/m3 when feeding steam, and calorific values are distributed over 4-6 MJ/m3 with oxygen-enriched air as gasification agent .The highest hydrogen volume fraction in water gas exceeds 80%, and the calorific value of which can be 12.91 MJ/m3 .It also shows that the high temperature field can be quickly founded or recovered by increasing the flow rate of air properly .The optimum flow rates of air and steam are 20 m3/h and 0.26 m3/h respectively under the tested conditions .The model test provides a strong evidence for UCG to produce hydrogen .
