Influence of Local Residual Deformation on the Axial Load-bearing Capacity of Steel Members

Abstract
Recently,repair and reinforcement of damaged steel members become more and more popular.As an important basis for repairing design,the load-carrying capacity assessment of damaged members lacks quan-titative analysis at this stage.In this paper,a steel pipe with compression and a steel angle member with pro-trusion were employed to analyze the influence of local residual deformation on the axial load-bearing capacity of steel members by using design formula,numerical analysis,and experiments,respectively.The results show that in certain cases local residual deformation improves the axial load-bearing capacity of steel members. The possibility of the load-bearing capacity decreases can be judged by the amount of local deformation.关键词
