Adult Attachment and Subjective Well-being:The Mediating Role of Positive Coping Style

Abstract
Objective:To shed light on the potential mediators( i.e.,positive coping style and negative coping style) on the association between adult attachment orientations( anxiety and avoidance) and sub-jective well-being.Methods:A total of 552 undergraduates completed measures of attachment orienta-tions,coping style and subjective well -being(satisfaction with life,positive and negative affect).Re-sults:Mediation analyses revealed that positive coping style acted as mediator on the association between attachment orientations and subjective well-being,the mediating effects were-0.09(P<0.01) and-0.15 (P<0.001) respectively,but not for negative coping style.Path analyses revealed that adult attachment anxiety had significant effect on positive coping style and negative coping style,the standard path coeffi-cients were-0.17(P<0.01) and 0.33(P<0.001) respectively;Adult attachment avoidance only had significant effect on positive coping style, the standard pathcoefficient was-0 .29 ( P <0 .001 );Positive coping style had significant effect on subject well-being,the standard path coefficient was 0.50(P<0.001),but negative coping style had no significant effect on subjective well-being.Conclusion:At-tachment anxious and attachment avoidant individuals lack the corresponding positive coping strategies, and this lack affectesd their level of subjective well-being.关键词
