THE APPLICATION OF CONCEPT ALGEBRA IN ONTOLOGY MERGING

Abstract
Ontology merging is an effective way of ontology integration used for resolving the ontology heterogeneity to achieve the goal of ontology resources reusing and sharing.In order to compensate for the ontology defects such as concept expression depth insufficiency and low degree in formalisation,we introduce the concept algebra.Combining the concept algebra with ontology,we propose a concept algebra-based ontology representation method,and it is just consistent with the consciousness activity of domain expert’s ontology building,so can better express and process knowledge.Concept algebra is an abstract mathematical structure with higher formalisation degree,and its cognitive relations between concepts are conducive to knowledge reasoning.In the paper we use concept algebra to express the ontology as the form of a visualised concept network,and further employ concept algebra operations to implement the merging and association between the concepts, and propose a concept algebra-based ontology merging method as well,which is an attempt of applying the concept algebra to ontology and also provides a new ontology processing perspective.关键词
