Abstract
Howard Goldblatt′s translation contributes a lot to Mo Yan′s Nobel Prize.The idioms in Life and Death are Wearing Me Out are great challenges for translators.This paper intends to analyze his translation strategies for the idioms in Mo Yan′s Life and Death are Wearing Me Out from the perspective of Translation as Adaptation and Selection.The study shows that Howard Goldblatt chooses word -for-word translation for linguistic dimension, word-for-word translation and free translation for cultural dimension,rewriting for communicative dimension. Translators should choose translation strategies which adapt to translational eco-environment according to concrete translation objectives.That is one of the important preconditions for good idiom translation.关键词
