Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of percutaneous kyphoplasty ( PKP ) for the treatment of age-related osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF). Methods 60 patients who suffered from OVCF were retrospectively reviewed. All operations were performed under C arm X-ray machine guidance. The data such as visual analogue scale ( VAS) scores, vertebral height and Cobb angle was recorded and compared among preopera-tive, 3 days after surgery and one year after surgery. Results All patients were followed up for 1~3 years. All pa-tients reported significant alleviation of pain after treatment. There was significant differences of VAS scores, vertebral height and Cobb angle among preoperative, 3 days after surgery and one year after surgery (P<0. 01). Conclusions PKP can restore the vertebral height and kyphotic angle and provide significant pain relief. It can improve the pa-tients’ life quality.关键词
