Abstract
Objective To study the efficacy of capsulorhexis using high frequency electrical capsulotomy instru -ments in phacoemulsification of hypermature cataract .Methods Sixty-three cases of hypermature cataract were selected in this study.Patients were assigned randomly into 2 groups.Twenty-five patients received routine continuous circular capsu-lorhexis with forceps (group A) while other 38 patients (group B) received high frequency electrical capsulorhexis with e-lectrical capsulotomy instruments .We compared success rate of capsulorhexis and IOL intracapsular embed , visual acuity , and incidence of corneal edema between two groups .Results Success rate of capsulorhexis and IOL intracapsular embed was significantly higher in group B than in group A .There was no difference in visual acuity and corneal edema incidence between the two groups .Conclusion The use of high frequency electrical capsulotomy instruments demonstrated a higher success rate of capsulorhexis and IOL intracapsular embed , and milder corneal edema and faster recovery of postoperative visual acuity .关键词
