Abstract
Objective To evaluate the cataract extraction and IOL implantation for the cataract with serious small adhesive pupil.Methods The case control study was conducted in 26 patients (32 eyes) with severe small adhesive pupil between October 2012 and September 2014.Small pupil was defined as diameter equal to or less than 2.5 mm after maxi-mal dilation.Corneal incision was made and lens position adjusting hook and chopper hook were used to relieve the adhe-sions so that the pupil diameter would return to 4~5 mm.Continuous curvilinear capsulorhexi, phacoemulsification and in-traocular lens implantation were then performed.Results During 3 months of follow up, visual acuity improved in all pa-tients and was better than 0.5 in 20 eyes (62.5%).The pupils remained circular or nearly circular, and in some patients the diameter became slightly larger than that before the surgery.There was no dislocation of intraocular lens.Conclusion Relief of the small adhesive pupil before cataract surgeries ensures safety during the surgery and improves the visual acuity outcomes with fewer complications.关键词
