Abstract

Test of orthogonality of frequency subspace(TOFS)is a relatively new method for wideband signal direction of arrival(DOA)estimation.It estimates the DOA of signals by measuring the orthogonal re-lation between the vectors which are constructed by angles and frequency as well as noise subspaces of multi-ple frequency components,and avoids focusing operation and preliminary DOA estimation.However,the method can not process coherent signals.To address this problem,an improved TOFS method is proposed, which combines the matrix conjugated reconstruction method with the TOFS method.The improved TOFS method can process coherent sources well and improve the accuracy of estimation.Furthermore,the array number is a primary influence on the computation time,where the larger the array number is,the heavier the computation cost will be.In this paper,the improved algorithm is applied in beam space domain to reduce the computational dimensions without decreasing the original precision of the estimation in array space.The simulation results show that the new method provides better performance than the original one.
