A technique for suppressing the super-mode noise of actively mode-locked fiber lasers

Abstract
We introduce a technique to suppress the super-mode noise of actively mode-locked fiber lasers.This is achieved by driving the intra-cavity modulator with a RF signal and a feedback signal that is derived from the laser’s output.Using numerical simulations,we examine the effects of feedback loop gain,loop bandwidth,and loop delay on the extent of laser super-mode noise suppressions.Our results show that with proper choices of the loop parameters, the supper-mode noises of actively mode-locked fiber lasers can be suppressed by as much as 60 dB.关键词
