Abstract
The stone piling culture of private gardens in regions south of the Yangtze River during Ming and Qing Dynasties, the essence of Chinese classical gardening culture, has reached the peak of Chinese classical stone piling culture. Intellectuals with artistic thoughts focused on the creation of artistic atmosphere, logic and scene through their writings and drawings while technical artisans improved their stone piling skills through drawing upon landscape painting skills. The combination of thoughts of intellectuals and technique of artisans has given rise to the unique stone piling culture of private gardens in regions south of the Yangtze River. The combination has developed gradually and formed a specialized and systematic team, which, to a certain extent, reflects the similar functions of modern design teams.关键词
