The Correlation among Impact Factor, Eigenfactor and Other Bibliometric Indicators:Analysis Based on Panel Data of Economic Journals

Abstract
This paper analyzes the correlation among impact factor, eigenfactor and other bibliometric indicators based on the panel data of JCR economic journals from 2007 to 2012. The result shows that impact factor is not correlated with eigenfactor;indeed, these two indica-tors have different emphasis. Convergence is seen between impact factor and 5-year impact factor. The total cited indicator is positively correlated to impact factor and eigenfactor. The immediacy index is a necessary indicator to measure the instant reaction rate of a journal. Accordingly, to improve the current evaluation index system, new bibliometric indicators should be introduced into the evaluation system of social science journals.关键词
