Abstract

Water supply of Aiyi River mainly comes from farmland drainage. Aiyi River gradually showed a trend of eutrophication. Total ni-trogen,ammonia nitrogen,total phosphorus,potassium permanganate index and 5 days biochemical oxygen demand were selected as repre-sentative water quality indicators of Aiyi River. One-dimensional water quality model was selected to calculate the water environmental ca-pacity of Aiyi River. The water self-purification rate and the correlation coefficient between the water self-purification rate and its main in-fluence factors of Aiyi River were calculated and analyzed. The results show that the water environmental capacity for total nitrogen is the smallest and the water environmental capacity for potassium permanganate index and 5 days biochemical oxygen demand are more than that for ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus in Aiyi River. Total nitrogen content is beyond the load capacity of the Aiyi River. Biological purifica-tion plays a dominant role in the process of self-purification of Aiyi River. 5 days biochemical oxygen demand and total phosphorus are mainly degraded by aquatic plants and heterotrophic bacteria. Total nitrogen is mainly degraded by heterotrophic bacteria. Ammonia nitrogen is mainly degraded by phytoplankton. The self-purification is influenced by water temperature,dissolved oxygen and pH in Aiyi River.
