Abstract

In order to evaluate the water quality status after the construction of Yangwotou breakwater and Qi⁃tai operational zone inside the Lianyungang Port, two surveys of water quality were taken in July and December of the year 2013. The distribution of inorganic nitrogen, inorganic phosphate and chemical oxygen demand as well as the petroleum in the surface waters of harbor area were analyzed. The results show that the water quality in the ba⁃sin is slightly worse than the outer harbor water quality with the relatively poor water quality in the basin end. The index method was adopted to analyze the water quality during the observation period. During the two surveys, the water quality in the harbor meets the national grade four water standards. Moreover, the eutrophication index meth⁃od was used to analyze the eutrophication state in the harbor. Within the port the water is slightly eutrophication, and the inorganic nitrogen is the limiting eutrophication factors. Control on the pollution discharge will be tightened with special focus on the inorganic nitrogen discharge.
