Expression changes of SEMA3F in hepatocellular carcinoma and its relationship with clinical prognosis

Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression changes of Semaphorin 3F ( SEMA3F) protein in hepatocellular carcinoma ( HCC) and its relationship with the clinical prognosis .Methods Western blotting was carried out in 32 cases of HCC samples surgically dissected to detect the expression of SEMA 3F protein in both HCC tissues ( HCC group) and pericarcinomatous liver tissues (control group).Tthe relationship between the SEMA3F protein expression changes and clinicopathological features , recurrence/metastasis and clinical prognosis of HCC was analyzed .Results The SEMA3F positive expression rates in the HCC and control groups were 84% and 97%, respectively (P>0.05).Western blotting showed that expression level of SEMA3F in HCC group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05).The expres-sion level of SEMA3F in tumor-capsulation was higher than that of tumor-without capsulation, and the expression level of SEMA3F in tumor-single nodular was higher than tumor-multiple nodular (all P<0.05).The expression level of SEMA3F between patients with liver cirrhosis and patients without liver cirrhosis in the HCC group had on significant difference ( P>0.05).The recurrence/metastatic rate of 15 cases of low expression was higher than that of 17 cases of high expression and the survival time was shorter than that of the high low expression group (all P<0.05).Conclusion SEMA3F may play an important role in the inhibition of invasion and metastasis of HCC and the expression level of SEMA 3F is helpful to judge the prognosis of patients with HCC .关键词
