Perfect Combination of Fidelity and Manipulation：the Strategies for Goldblatt to Translate Wolf Totem

Abstract
The overseas distribution of Wolf Totem is unprecedented in comparison with that of other Chinese works. In the English version, the translator Howard Goldblatt adopts the translation strategies that combine fidelity and manipulation in a perfect way. The former involves conveying as faithfully as possible the meanings and Sino-Mongol cultures in the ST while the latter involves revising and adjusting the ST to facilitate its reception in the target society. The two-hand translation strategies are without doubt conducive to the ef-fective translation and dissemination of the modern and contemporary Chinese literature.关键词
