Discussion on Freight Train Maintenance Capacity in Depot for Western Inner Mongolia-to-Central China Railway

Abstract

This paper pointed out that after separated operation between railway passenger and freight transportations, the railway freight transportation capacity would be improved and the reserves of freight trains would be increased; and then the need of high efficiency and high quality of railway freight transportation would be bound to make demand on the freight train maintenance capacity in depot. In this paper, by means of investigation on the reserves of freight trains and depot repair bays, and in combination with the prediction on the reserves of freight trains, the conflicts between the freight train's growth and the freight train maintenance capacity in depot was analyzed for the whole railways and for the Western Inner Mongolia-to-Central China Railway which would be used for coal transportation. Furthermore, this paper proposed the measures to improve the freight train maintenance capacity in depot, such as building new ( or expanding ) freight train depots, enhancing repairing technical equipment, optimizing organization management, reforming repair schedule and repair regulations, and so on. Finally, this paper proposed a scheme of facility layout in the freight train depots ( or repairing workshops) for Western Inner Mongolia-to-Central China Railway, and analyzed the measures for improving the freight train maintenance capacity in depots of this railway.
