Abstract

Coastal wetland is an ecotone, formed by the interaction between sea and land, which is the most sensitive to environmental changes and human activities, and makes it become a relatively fragile ecosystem. Scientific evaluation of coastal wetland ecosystem health and its stress factors have important practical significance in restoration and sustainable development of wetland ecosystem. According to problem of uncertainty and fuzziness in wetland ecosystem system assessment, the Pressure-State-Response (PSR) model is used to establish assessment index system for coastal wetland ecosystem health. The weights of indexes are determined using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The set pair analysis method(SPA) is applied to depict the fuzziness of subordinate relation between the evaluation sample and grade classification standard. The triangular fuzzy numbers are used to express the continuous changing process and uncertainty of component coefficients of discrepancy degree. Moreover, a coupling method of set pair analysis and triangular fuzzy numbers for health assessment of coastal wetland ecosystem is established. The method is applied to current situation assessment of ecosystem health in Haixing wetland. The result shows that the comprehensive connection number of ecosystem health is-0.380 in Haixing wetland, and its corresponding grade characteristic value is 3.760, which can be categorized as a general sick level. The grade characteristic value of the pressure subsystem, the state subsystem and the response subsystem are 3.580, 3.976 and 2.948 respectively. It indicates that natural state of Haixing wetland have been excessively disturbed by human activities, which leads to system structural imbalance and the decline of the service function under the external stress. The main factors affecting the health of ecosystem system are the using intensity of pesticides, utilization ratio of water resources, degradation ratio of the wetland area, water eutrophication, proportion of environmental protection investment in GDP, consciousness of wetland protection, etc. The proposed model is simple and intuitive, and the result more objective and reasonable, and would be of reference value in assessing wetland ecosystem health.
