Abstract
The use of FRP ( Fibre Reinforced Polymer ) to strengthen metal structures has been very popular. This paper first reviews the following areas: the elastic analysis of interfacial stresses for the design of FRP bonded to a structural member, the bond-slip relationship between FRP and metal or concrete, and several approaches to predict the bond strength. Then summarize the structural behavior of FRP-metal under axial loads (tension force and compression forces) or bending, review these factors that influence the structural behavior: the choice of different FRP or different adhesive, the location and direction of FRP, the layer and boundary of FRP, the thickness of adhesive, etc. This paper also mentions the conception of effective bond length. Then it reviews the fatigue behavior of steel or aluminum structures strengthened with FRP. Besides, several issues need to be resolved for further study.关键词
