Abstract
By application of 3D non-linear finite element method, models of the transverse joint of gravity dam, dam body and founda-tion.In consideration of two operation conditions of with and without reservoir water, the dam body model with different depth of the transverse joint is compared and analyzed.Regarding the operation condition of the reservoir with water fully, the compression of the res-ervoir water can be neglected but it can be calculated based on the additional mass on the dam surface.The study shows that the upstream-downstream swing dominates at the 1st -order vibration type.In the contribution of the dynamic response, the 1st-order vibration con-tributes mostly.With increment of the transverse-joint depth, the self-vibration frequency of the dam body correspondingly decreases. The extreme transverse-joint depth is much unfavorable to the dam body strain.The dam body is severely distorted.The integrated coor-dination of the dam body is weakest.Provided that the dam body is free from joints, the integrity of the dam body is highest but this is un-favorable to the dam body stress.Therefore, how to properly design the transverse-joint depth of the dam body is very important.关键词
