Abstract
Objective:To investigate the correlation among the serum concentrations of vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF ) and pigment epithelium-derived factor ( PEDF ) with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome ( OHSS) in polycystic ovarian syndrome ( PCOS) pa-tients and to assess the predictive value. Methods:A total of 52 PCOS patients undergoing in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection embryo transfer ( IVF/ICSI-ET ) were retro-spectively analysed and separated into two groups as Group A( moderate to severe OHSS,n=19) and Group B(mild or no OHSS,n=33). Enzyme-linked immunoadsordent assay (ELISA) was employed to measure the serum concentrations of VEGF and PEDF on the day of hCG ad-ministration,oocyte retrieval and embryo transfer, respectively. Results:The serum concentra-tions of VEGF on the day of HCG administration ( h-VEGF ) , oocyte retrieval ( o-VEGF ) and embryo transfer(e-VEGF) in Group A were significantly higer than Group B(P=0. 005,P=0. 006,P=0. 011). Ratios of h-PEDF/h-VEGF,o-PEDF/o-VEGF,e-PEDF/e-VEGF in Group A were obviously lower than Group B ( P=0 . 012 , P=0 . 010 , P=0 . 032 ) . When defining o-VEGF≥168. 52pg/ml to predict moderate/severe OHSS,the sensitivity was 89. 5%,while defi-ning e-PEDF/e-VEGF≤8. 16 to predict moderate/severe OHSS,the specificity was 90. 9%. Conclusion:Serum concentrations of VEGF were significantly higher in moderate to severe OHSS. Serum concentrations of VEGF and ratios of PEDF/VEGF were of great value in pedict-ing moderate to severe OHSS.关键词
