EFFECT OF GLUTAMINE ON NUTRITION AND IMMUNITY FUNCTION IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE ACCOMPANIED WITH RESPIRATORY FAILURE

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of glutamine ( Gln) on nutrition status and immunity function in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD) accompanied with respiratory failure .Methods 43 patients with COPD accompanied with respiratory failure were randomly divided into Gln group (n=25) and control group (n=18).Both groups were given parenteral nutrition with equal calorie and nitrogen.Intravenous Ala-Gln was supplemented to Gln group instead of equal protein.The hemoglo-bin (HGB), serum total protein (TP), albumin (ALB), Globulin (GLB) and prealbumin (PAB), T lymphocyte subsets (CD3+, CD4 +, CD8 +), and immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA, IgM) changes were compared before and after treatment.Results After therapy, TP, PAB, CD3+T cell, CD8+T cell, IgA and IgG in Gln group were increased significantly.TP, CD3+T cell and IgA were significantly higher than those of the control group (p<0.05).Conclusion Ala -Gln can effectively improve the immune function and nutritional status of COPD patients accompanied with respiratory failure .关键词
