Abstract

The Wei State was the orthodox in History of the Three Kingdoms.The reasons are:first, the three states had their own reign titles, with that of the Wei State is normal;second, biographic sketches for the Emperor Wu and the Emperor Ming, but profiles for Liu Bei and Sun Quan;third, the titles of Cao Cao, Liu Bei and Sun Quan were different.Xi Zaochi from the Eastern Jin Dynasty compiled History of the Han and Jin Dynasties which began to question the idea that the Wei State was the orthodox, and held that the Shu State is the orthodox, which is a-gainst Chen Shou.Chen Shou was in the dilemma:respecting the real history of safeguarding the supreme interest group.At last, he chose the latter, that is, the Wei State was the orthodox.
