Abstract

The feasibility study of laminated veneer lumber(LVL)manufacturing from Salix discolor was dis-cussed in this research,analyzing the effects of hot-pressing temperature,hot-pressing time and glue spread a-mount on the physical-mechanical properties of Salix discolor LVL.The results showed that the manufacturing of Salix discolor LVL is feasible.Along with the increment of the hot-pressing temperature,the mechanical proper-ties of Salix discolor LVL were improved,but when the temperature reached 150 ℃,the MOE⊥,MOR⊥ and MOE∥,MOR∥ began to decrease.TS was increased correspondingly as the hot-pressing temperature increases, changed in the range of 5.05%-5.92%.When the hot-pressing time was 1.0 min/mm,the MOE⊥,MOR⊥and MOE∥,MOR∥ of Salix discolor LVL reached to a maximum,with the value of 5 135.13 MPa,69.94 MPa and 5 759.57 MPa,69.54 MPa,respectively.As the extension of hot-pressing time,TS showed a trend of the first increase and then decrease,but the range of change was not large.With the increase of glue spread amount, the MOE⊥,MOR⊥ and MOE∥,MOR∥ of Salix discolor LVL had different degrees of increase,glue spread a-mount 280 g/m2 ,MOE⊥ and MOR⊥ reached a maximum,while glue spread amount was 240 g/m2 ,MOE∥, MOR∥ reached the maximum and TS had a minimum value.In the range of experimental study,the proposed technological parameters were:hot-pressing temperature 135 ℃,hot-pressing time 1.0 min/mm,glue spread a-mount 240 g/m2 .
