Abstract
Objective To investigate the correlation between lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2 )and pulse wave velocity (PWV).Methods A cross-sectional clinical trial including 1 68 partici-pants without overt cardiovascular diseases was conducted.The serum levels of Lp-PLA2 and PWV and alterna-tive laboratory parameters were measured.All participants were divided into normal and elevated groups accord-ing to the serum levels of Lp-PLA2.Relevant parameters and PWV-associated risk factors were statistically compared between two groups.Results Compared to the normal Lp-PLA2 group,the number of hypertensive patients and serum level of Lp-PLA2 were significantly higher in the elevated group (P <0.01 ),whereas no statistical significance was observed in other risk factors such as age,smoking and diabetes between two groups.Multiple lineal regression analysis revealed that age,PWV and Lp-PLA2 were independently associated with PWV,and other traditional risk factors such as smoking,blood glucose and cholesterol were not independ-ently correlated with PWV.Conclusion In the early stage of atherosclerosis,increased serum level of Lp-PLA2 was independently associated with PWV.关键词
