Abstract

In order to find out the effects of exogenous phthalates [dibutyl phthalate (DBP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) and di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DIOP) and their mixture (MixDP)] on the Zn content in tobacco root, stalk, leaf and the absorption and transport of Zn in tobacco, a pot cultural experiment of flue-cured cv. K326 (N. tabacum L.) was carried out with root-irrigation at 6 concentration levels (0.01, 0.10, 0.50, 1.00, 5.00 and 10.00 mmol·L-1) of DBP, DIBP, DIOP and MixDP (the equal volume mixture of the above solutions of the same concentration). The results showed that DBP and DIBP did not significantly affect the Zn content and accumulation in root system. DIOP and MixDP increased Zn content and promoted Zn accumulation in root system, and the DIOP in MixDP determined the effects of MixDP on Zn content and accumulation in root system. DBP, DIBP, DIOP and MixDP all could increase the Zn content in tobacco stalk remarkably and promote Zn transporting from root to stalk. DBP, DIBP and DIOP did not affect the Zn content in leaf obviously, but inhibited Zn transporting from stalk to leaf significantly. MixDP significantly decreased the Zn content in leaf and inhibited Zn transporting from stalk to leaf. In MixDP treatment, the effects of DBP, DIBP and DIOP on the Zn contents in stalk and leaf and the transport of Zn presented a synergistic effect to a certain extent.
