Abstract

Objective To study the effectiveness and safety of COOK cervical ripening balloon on induction of term pregnancy. Methods By retrospective analysis method, we assigned 280 cases of full-term pregnancy and induced labor indications of pregnant women in our hospital from 2013 January to 2013 December as the object of study. 130 patients were voluntary to receive COOK cervical ripening balloon cervical ripening pregnant women (the observation group), and 150 cases treated with low concentration of oxytocin in promoting cervical ripening and induction of labor (the control group). The promoting cervical ripening effect, successful rate of induced labor, induced labor time, total labor time, mode of delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, puerperal infection, and neonatal status were observed. Results The cervical ripening rate, vaginal delivery rate, the successful rate of induced labor of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, with significant difference (P <0.05). The induced labor time of the observation group was significantly shorter than the control group (P <0.05). Conclusions COOK cervical ripening balloon for induction of termpregnancy is safe and effective, with high compliance, which is worthy of clinical application.
