Miniature Specimens for Fracture Toughness of A 25 Cr2NiMo1 V Steel

Abstract
Room temperature fracture toughness tests using miniature three-point bending specimens were conducted for a 25Cr2NiMo1V steel to analyze the specimen size dependence of the fracture toughness. Results show that the fracture toughness of miniaturized specimens is lower with higher degree of scatter-ing.It is indicated that the dominated plane stress state of miniature specimens reduces constraint effects from specimen thickness and ligament on deformation near crack-tip,thereby lower ability to stable crack growth.The results in our experiments are a good attempt for fracture toughness testing based on notched micro-three-point bending specimen.关键词
