Abstract

Safety valve is an important accessory to most kinds of pressure equipments,while its discharge capacity is a key index to evaluate its performance.So the accurate calculation of discharge capacity is crucial for the safety valve selection.It proposes an accurate discharge capacity calculation method of safe-ty valve based on back pressure correction for the safety valves with discharge piping.In addition,a MAT-LAB program of this method is developed to calculate back pressure and discharge capacity of safety valves with discharge piping at sub-critical discharge condition.Finally, the steady numerical simulation results from FLUENT are used to verify the accuracy of the proposed method.The results show that the relative percentage errors of results calculated by the proposed method are within 0 .5%.So the proposed method can accurately calculate back pressure and discharge capacity of safety valves with discharge pip-ing,providing guidance for the safety valve selection.
