Abstract
The printing pastes were prepared using sodium alginate as common thickener and applied in magnetic rod flat screen printing. The effects of printing parameters such as mesh, magnetic-rod diameter, printing speed and magnetic force on the printing performances including paste add-on, color yield, penetrabili-ty and pattern edge sharpness were intensively studied. Meanwhile the relations between rheological proper-ties and printing performances of the printing pastes were tentatively explored. The results showed that mesh, magnetic-rod diameter, printing speed and magnetic force had impacts on the printing performances to different degrees. The influence orders were as fol ows: mesh>magnetic-rod diameter>printing speed>mag-netic force. As the magnetic-rod diameter increased or mesh or printing speed decreased, the amount of print-ing pastes applied to the fabrics, namely paste add-on, had certain increase, and the color yield and penetra-tion amounts also increased, while the outline sharpness decreased. The relation between magnetic-rod diam-eter and paste add-on meets the equation: G=aRb. And the relation between printing speed and paste add-on meets the equation: G=Av+B/v+C. The change of printing parameters affected the hydrodynamic pressure of the printing pastes in the wedge region, which in turn had effects on the shear action to the printing pastes. The shear-thinning features and viscoelasticity of the printing pastes under shears determined the paste add-on, influencing the color yield, penetrability and pattern edge sharpness.关键词
