Derek Curtis Bok’s View on the Modern University’s Academic Neutrality

摘要
Abstract
With closer and closer relationship between university and society,more and more people require the university to provide more service for society and to undertake increasing social responsibilities. As a result,the modern society is faced with a series of problems. The key of solving these problems is how to avoid university’s basic academic principle being violated when it undertakes social responsibilities. In this context,Bok put forward the view of academic neutrality,and he argued that the university should protect its own basic academic principle;meanwhile,it also should undertake corresponding social responsibilities,only keeping academic neutrality can we keep balance between them. This view not only shows a bright way for American university,but also can offer im-portant reference value for modern universities’reform and rebuilding in our country.关键词
