A Direct Current Capacitor Voltage Balancing Control Strategy for H-bridge Cascaded Static Var Generator

Abstract
To the issue of H-bridge cascaded static var generator (SVG) direct current (DC) capacitor voltage balancing, this paper analyzed the relation between modulation wave magnitude and DC capacitor voltage variation based on phase shifted carrier pulse width modulation (PSCPWM), and proposed the Modulation Wave Supplementary method. On the basis of maintaining the total modulation wave constant and keeping the H-bridge modulation degree less than 1, the appropriate supplementary was introduced to modulation waves of each cascaded H-bridge respectively according to the error between the voltage of each bridge and the mean voltage of the DC capacitors at same phase. The simulation and experimental results prove that the Modulation Wave Supplementary method has the ability to control the balance of DC capacitor voltage and does not have obvious influence on output current of the SVG system. Moreover, the proposed method has less control parameters, and can be realized easily without any complex sorting operations, and has good practical application value.关键词
