Abstract

Based on an one-dimensional (1-D) magnetostriction measurement device, a method measuring the magnetostrictive property along arbitrary directions for a non-oriented silicon steel sheet was proposed, and the magnetostrictive loops along the material’s different magnetization directions were obtained. The single value curves describing the magnetostrictive property were abstracted. Aλ-(θB, Bmax) magnetostrictive mathematical model was built to describe the relationship between magnetostriction and magnetization, and a 2-D magnetostrictive surface was interpolated from the measured data. Using FORTRAN computer language, the finite element calculation program coupled with magnetostrictive model above was compiled, and the magnetostriction in the stator core of a synchronous generator was analyzed. The study shows that the non-oriented silicon steel sheet has the anisotropic magnetostriction property along arbitrary directions, and the measurement method and the mathematical model proposed in this paper can be effectively used to analyze magnetostrictive anisotropy of the silicon steel sheet.
