Abstract

As a kind of thermostatically controlled loads (TCLs), air-conditioning loads have the ability to store and transfer energy. The ability makes air-conditioning the most potential loads in demand response. By controlling air-conditioning loads, the purpose of reducing peaks at lower cost and achieving balance between supply and demand can reach without affecting users comfort. Aiming at the air-conditioners with similar parameters, this paper analyzed the mechanism of load oscillations caused by traditional temperature adjusting method on the basis of equivalent thermal parameters model (ETP model) and proposed a new temperature adjusting method to avoid load oscillations by separately controlling top and bottom limitations of temperature setpoint. Then the load dispatch decision model was designed accordingly. The analysis of the influence of dispatch plan, aggregate group and dispatch target on scheduling results based on examples proves the feasibility of the model which can provide a method to integrate air-conditioning loads into power system operation.
