Abstract

ABSTRACT:With many advantages such as small volume, high security and long maintenance cycle, etc. SF6 gas-insulated electrical equipment has gained more popularity in power system. As a result, the analysis of SF6 gas decomposition products and detection of partial discharge (PD) has become an important research subject in recent years. The following aspects including mechanism and process of SF6 decomposition, detection methods for decomposition products, decomposition characteristics of SF6 under different conditions and diagnostic application for insulation defects in power equipment were concluded in this paper. SF6 will decompose into multiple types of products under discharge. The types and contents of decomposition products were influenced by various factors including current, electrode material, micro-water and micro-aerobic content, adsorbents. The decomposition process of SF6 is closely related to discharge type and energy. Hence, analysis techniques of SF6 decomposition can be applied to state monitoring of power apparatus. Finally, further issues needed solved and possible development directions were put forward.
