Abstract
From the end of November to early December 2013,a large number of sick piglets and dead cases appeared in a delivery and nursery room in a commercial pig farm in Xiamen City. To find out the cause of the outbreak, descriptive epidemiological methods were used to describe the epidemiological characteristics of the outbreak and risk factors were analyzed. The results showed that attack rate of weaning piglets was 85.7%,fatality rate was 66.5%;attack rate of suckling piglets was 60.3%,fatality rate was 54.9%. The incidence of weaned piglets was 1.4 times higher than suckling piglets(95%CI:1.3~1.6);from the rearing density point of view,the incidence of weaned piglets with more than 15 piglets per pen was 1.6 times higher than those with less than or equal to 15 piglets per pen(95%CI:1.4~1.8);from the litter size point of view,the incidence of suckling piglets with more than 8 piglets per litter was 1.2 times higher than those with less than or equal to 8 piglets per litter(95%CI:1.04~1.4). According to the anatomical symptoms and laboratory results,it could be concluded that it was probably an outbreak ofHaemophilus parasuis disease due stress. Finally,according to the investigation,it was recommended that the farmer should strengthen the management of production so as to improve the swine disease resistance.关键词
