Abstract
According to The Chinese National Medium and Long-term Plan for Animal Epidemic Prevention and Con-trol(2012-2020),Newcastle disease(ND) has been listed in the prioritized categories for prevention and con-trol. To estimate fl ock prevalence of ND virus(NDV) in scale poultry farms in Xiamen,a cross-sectional etiologic study was carried out in 450 scale poultry farms within 4 districts of Xiamen. A total of 5160 cloacal and tracheal swab samples were collected from 129 scale poultry farms. A real time RT-PCR test was used to determine NDV. The overall prevalence of NDV positive farms was 0.8%(95% CI 0.0-2.1). The fl ock-level NDV prevalence(at least one bird tested positive of NDV) in chicken,duck,goose scale farms was 1.9%(95% CI 0.0-4.4),0%and 0%,respec-tively. The results indicate that the status of Newcastle disease in scale poultry farms in Xiamen meets the strategic goals ofTheChinese National Medium and Long-term Plan for Animal Epidemic Prevention and Control(2012-2020).关键词
