Abstract
In recent overseas study of"A Dream of Red Mansions",American study in this field enjoys a unique and abundant achievements.From the 1 9th century,American sinologists have noticed the influence of classical Chinese novels represented by"A Dream of Red Mansions"and began to introduce the novel to the west by translation.Since the concept of overseas study of"A Dream of Red Mansions"was raised in 1 950s,American study of this novel is diversified.The study of "A Dream of Red Mansions" not only can be combined with the western literary theories, but can develop an interdisciplinary research methodology,which is quite different from the Chinese traditional study of"A Dream of Red Mansions".American study in this aspect ,not a pure study of classical Chinese novels any more,has been a part of sinology.Their achievements open up a field for the future study and their research experiences are worthy of reflection and learning.关键词
