StatUs of Smoking:An Investigation of Male Visitors to Weifang CommUnity Health Service Center in Shanghai

Abstract
Objective To investigate the smoking status of male visitors to community health service center and analyze the characteristics of smokersˊbehaviors and their intention to quit,to provide a basis for formulating targeted measures for tobac-co control. Methods Form 2013 February to April,cross-sectional survey were used to perform a questionnaire in 805 male visitors to this center,aged 18-75 years. ResUlts The smoking rate of male visitors was 44. 8%(361 cases),that of those aged 46-60 years was the highest,up to 69. 4%(136 cases). The ever-having-smoking-quitting rate of present smokers was 46. 3%(167 cases). The main reason for quitting smoking was health or diseases,accounting for 50. 3%(84 cases). 88. 6%(148 cases) quitted smoking by self-intervention,79. 0%(132 cases)continued less than half a year. Only 54. 6%(197 cases)of present smokers were going to or started to quit smoking. Admonishment increases smokersˊ aspiration to quit smoking. ConclUsion Male visitors aged 45 -60 years are focus group of community smoking control. Community physicians should improve the initiative to provide smoking control services.关键词
