Abstract
English"PrimaryHealthCare(PHC)"hasbeenmisunderstoodandwronglytranslated intoChineseas" Entry Level Health Care,初级卫生保健" for more than a half century in China. This clear mistake has misled the government and health care field with many serious consequences,such as in overall health care ethics and development strategy,in govern-mentˊs policy making for infrastructure planning and health care work force education,and in governmentˊs health care finan-cing. This article elucidates the mistake in translation of PHC into Chinese " Entry level health Care,初级卫生保健" and the clear misunderstanding of the PHC concept,from various angles:the basic English meaning of" Primary",the concept of PHC inhealthcarefield,thePHCexperienceintheworldand theharmfulconsequencesinChina.InChinaˊscurrentongoingnewre-form of health care with core development in PHC and new general practice system,it is hoped that scholars in the health care field,health care professionals,and officers in the government fully understand the PHC concept and rectify harmful effects in various sectors,and promote the advance of the new health care reform in right direction.关键词
