Abstract

Objective To explore the expressions of BAG - 1S,COX - 2 genes in non - small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)and their correlation and analyze the significance of BAG - 1S,COX - 2 gene expressions to NSCLC prognosis. Meth-ods A total of 120 NSCLC patients who received lung cancer operations in Liaoning Medical College from January 2009 to Janu-ary 2010 were enrolled in this study. The study used immunohistochemistry to detect the expressions of BAG - 1S and COX - 2 proteins,used RT - PCR to determine BAG - 1S mRNA expression in lung cancer tissues to analyze the correlation between BAG- 1S and COX - 2 expressions and their relationship to gender,age,pathological types,stages,differentiated degree,lymph node metastasis,and assessed the significance of combined detection of BAG - 1S and COX - 2 to NSCLC prognosis. Results In 120 NSCLC patients,the positive expression rates of BAG - 1S and COX - 2 proteins were 60. 8% (73 cases),55. 8% (67 cases),respectively. There was significant difference in positive expression rate of BAG - 1S protein between patients with dif-ferent differentiated degrees(χ2 = 10. 551,P = 0. 005),and in COX - 2 positive expression rate between patients with different pathological types,lymph node metastasis(χ2 = 9. 069,7. 320,P = 0. 003,0. 007). The overall survival( OS),progres-sion free survival(PFS)of the patients with BAG - 1S positive expression,BGA - 1L/ M positive expression,BAG - 1 negative expression were 39. 482,36. 414,35. 806 months,25. 760,24. 235,23. 925 months,respectively. There was significant difference in OS,PFS between patients with BAG - 1S positive expression and those with BAG - 1 L/ M positive expression,with BAG - 1 negative expression(P < 0. 05). There was difference in OS,PFS between patients with COX - 2 positive expression (37. 671,39. 007 months,respectively)and with negative expression(24. 861,25. 520 months,respectively)(P < 0. 05), and between patients with BAG - 1S,COX - 2 positive expressions(41. 516,35. 948,38. 330 months)and those simultane-ously with both expressions(26. 805,24. 056,25. 173 months)(P < 0. 05). BAG - 1S protein was positively correlated with COX - 2 protein positive expression(r = 0. 180,P = 0. 049). Cox regression analysis showed that BAG - 1S protein,COX - 2 protein,degree of differentiation,pathological stage and lymph node metastasis were the influencing factors for the survival of pa-tients with NSCLC. Conclusion BAG - 1S and COX - 2 proteins,expressing high in NSCLC,are positively correlated. The patients with BAG - 1S positive expression and COX - 2 negative expression have remarkable survival advantage. Combined de-tection of the 2 factors can predict the prognosis of NSCLC patients.
