Current progress of erythropoietin in depression
摘要
Abstract
Erythropoietin (EPO),which is routinely used in clinic to treat anemia,has been implicated in a wide range of activities on diverse tissues.Recently,accumulating evidence shows that EPO has antidepressant-like effects and may be a po-tential drug candidate for treating mood symptoms and memory dysfunction in depression.This review summarizes the current progress on EPO’s antidepressant-like effects,and explores its potential mechanism and clinical application in the future,provi-ding a general view of the research and application status of EPO in depression.关键词
