Abstract
Objective: To explore the application of “Deming Cycle(PDCA)” in medical consumables entry management in hospitals. Methods: Build inter-department cooperation, re-plan the whole approval process, do what is scheduled, check the speed and quality of the process, amend the application form and regulatory regime. Analyze the data before and after the application of PDCA with SPSS19.0 software. Assess the passing rate with chi-square statistics. Assess the approval cycle with t-test. The differences were statistically significant the 0.05 level if P<0.05. Results: PDCA cycle was undertaken since May, 2013 in one tertiary hospital. In the next year, 502 types of medical consumables had been handled. Year-on-year average approval period significantly decreased from 171 days to 117 days(P<0.01). At the same time, the entry rate significantly decreased from 69.02%to 57.42%(P<0.05). Conclusion:The application of PDCA cycle of planning-do-check-action can effectively improve management efficiency, form uniform standard in management processes and achieve continuous benefits.关键词
