Evaluation on the effects of comfort nursing care on reducing postoperative arrhythmia for elderly patients with esophageal cancer

Abstract
Objective To explore and evaluate the effects of comfort nursing care on reducing postoperative arrhythmia for elderly patients with esophageal cancer. Methods 172 patients who were 65 years of age or above and received esophageal cancer operation in our hospital from May 2009 to May 2013 were selected and assigned to a control group(88 patients) and an observation group(84 patients). The control group received a regular nursing for esophageal cancer, while the observation group, based on the regular nursing, received a comfort nursing via a comprehensive responsibility system. Incidence of postoperative arrhythmia was compared between the two groups. Results The difference of the incidence of postoperative arrhythmia between the two groups was statistically significant(P < 0.05). Conclusion The perioperative comfort nursing care effectively prevents or reduces the incidence of postoperative arrhythmia for elderly patients with esophageal cancer. It alleviates patients' pains, meets their satisfaction and improves the nursing service overall.关键词
