Abstract

Objective This paper is to investigate clinical effects of bronchoscope alveolar lavage in treating ventilator associated pneumonia. Methods Thirty two ICU-based patients with ventilator associated pneumonia were divided into 2 groups, patients in the control group (12 cases) were subject to conventional treatment, patients in the observation group (20 cases) were subject to bronchoscope alveolar lavage treatment on the basis of that applied on patients in the treatment group, and treatment efficacies of two treatment methods were observed and compared. Results Average disappearance time of expectoration coughing, mechanical ventilation time, antibiotic service time, ICU stay and the length of hospitalization of patients in the observation group (bronchoscope alveolar lavage) were shorter than that of patients in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05). The complication rate of patients in the observation group hits 5.00%, being lower than that in the control group (25.00%), the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The mortality of patients in the observation group hit 0, being lower than those of patients in the control group (16.67 % ), but the differences were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). Conclusion Bronchoscopy alveolar lavage is capable of effectively treating ventilator associated pneumonia and shortening the treatment time, delivering high security and being worthy of wide service in clinical practices.
